2000-2006 Yamaha Blaster 200 Transmission Oil Capacity

The Yamaha Blaster 200 features an air-cooled, 2-stroke, single-cylinder engine. The engine has a displacement of 195 cm³ (11.90 cu.in), with a bore and stroke of 66.0 mm × 57.0 mm (2.60 × 2.24 in), and a compression ratio of 6.6:1.

Starting the Blaster is done via a kick starter, and the lubrication system is managed by Yamaha's Autolube system, allowing separate lubrication. The recommended engine oil for this 2-stroke machine is Yamalube 2 or any oil designed for air-cooled 2-stroke engines, with an oil capacity of 1.3 L (1.37 US qt).

For the transmission, the recommended oil is Yamalube 4 (10W30) or SAE 10W30 type SE motor oil, meeting API Service SE, SF, SG or higher classifications. The transmission requires 0.6 L (0.69 US qt) of oil during periodic oil changes.

Transmission Oil Measurement

  1. Place your machine on a level surface.
  2. Warm up the engine for several minutes, then turn it off.
  3. Locate the oil level window on the right side of the crankcase cover and check the oil level.
    • Note: Wait a few minutes for the oil to settle before checking.
  4. The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum marks. If the oil is below the minimum level, add the recommended oil until it reaches the proper level.


Transmission Oil Replacement

  1. Place the machine on a level surface.
  2. Warm up the engine for several minutes and then turn it off.
  3. Place a container under the engine to collect the used oil.
  4. Remove the oil filler cap and the drain bolt to drain the oil completely.


  5. Once drained, reinstall the drain bolt and tighten it to the specified torque of 20 Nm (14 ft-lbf).
  6. Fill the engine with the recommended oil : Yamalube 4 (10W30) or SAE 10W30 type SE motor oil API Service SE, SF, SG type or higher, ensuring to add the correct quantity:
    • Periodic oil change: 0.6 L (0.57 Imp qt, 0.69 US qt)
  7. After filling, install the oil filler cap securely.
  8. Start the engine and let it warm up for a few minutes, checking for any oil leaks during this time. If a leak is detected, stop the engine and investigate the cause.
  9. Finally, recheck the oil level and ensure it is within the proper range.

Important Notes:

  • Avoid mixing chemical additives with the transmission oil, as it may cause clutch slippage.
  • Do not use oils with a diesel specification of "CD" or oils labeled “ENERGY CONSERVING II” or higher, as these may not be suitable.
  • Ensure no foreign materials enter the crankcase during the oil change process.
